Brick progress (part 4)

Despite the recent rain, the bricklayers have been onsite most days and have nearly finished their work. It looks like they'll need another delivery of bricks and a couple more dry days.

The plan for the coming week is to attempt to put up the fascia, gutters and roof tiles again. I can't see it happening with the current weather forecast. Showers, followed by more showers, followed by possible showers........ with a chance of showers.

Oh, and following on from the "window saga" in previous weeks: the bedroom windows have finally been swapped around.

Brick progress (part 3)

Things that make you go "hmmmm" - I never liked that song, but it's stuck in my head now.

The past week didn't go according to plan as apparently the rain on Tuesday blew out timing on all the guttering and roofing jobs. Scaffolding turned up on Monday, roof delivered over Tuesday/Wednesday, and the brickies were back on Thursday so at least the time wasn't wasted. With the heavy rain this weekend and forecast of more rain over the coming week, I can't see much work getting done.... we'll see.

I wasn't going to mention this, but I'm getting a bit fed up now. The windows in bedrooms 3 and 4 need to be swapped over as they've been placed in the wrong rooms (one of them has ComfortPlus glazing to keep the room cool in Summer). I've been trying to get this done for the past three weeks without any luck. Apparently the brickies are now supposed to swap them over, however, they've decided to brick in one of the windows and the flashing. So now, they have to rip that out and hopefully not do a dodgy job re-attaching the flashing after the window swap. How hard is it to follow simple instructions? Dear Builder, I don't ask for much, I'm polite, I'm reasonably patient.... just keep me happy with my simple requests and I'll stop hounding you. Fix the window. It's easy!

From the front it looks massive with the scaffolding up:

Brick progress (part 2)

Ground floor bricking has continued throughout the previous week and the upstairs plumbing has been connected.

This coming week the scaffolding will be erected on Monday, gutters and fascia installed on Tuesday, roofing beginning on Wednesday. The following week will see the brickies back to finish off the top floor, balcony and other left over bits at the rear of the house.

Brick progress (part 1)

The bricking is progressing well. After five days we have somewhere around 1/3 of the bricks done, excluding the balcony. The brickies worked on Saturday which was nice to see.

The quality seems to be pretty good - bricks are spaced evenly, surfaces appear flat (no bricks sticking out), bricks under windows are laid straight. So far, nice work tradies!

Five days of bricking looks like this:
